Pretty Simple web design : portfolio

No amount of money can buy a good portfolio. It takes time. Here's more info on some recent sites I've created.

Rosie's Playtime

Here, the client needed a clean, bright website to promote their new app, aimed at helping young children to brush their teeth properly. Due to the target audience, the site had to be fully iOS-friendly. By basing the site on WordPress, the client is able to update the pages and add new posts easily, keeping it fresh and up to date, whilst also integrating it with their presence on Twitter and FaceBook.

Another portfolio site for a professional musician, showcasing his musical talents with audio clips. This site was built using a fully hosted and supported installation of popular open-source blogging software, WordPress. Using this approach, the client can now easily update his own site and add new pages at the press of a few buttons.

Blue Rondo Jazz Ensembles

A simple, stylish site advertising high quality jazz ensembles. This was a redesign of an old site which was looking dated. The client wanted a professional look to help attract high-end corporate customers. Time and budget was limited so I produced a very simple site with a minimum of features, whilst still delivering a striking brand.

Arbor Green Nursery

A colourful, fun website to promote a new nursery school in Edinburgh. The client already had a logo (the magical tree) and so the site's design needed to be sympathetic to that image. This included the design of a fully animated and interactive banner, as well as animated animal characters. Functionality included an embedded Google map and a contact form.

This project was a re-vamp of an old website. The band wanted a more professional look whilst still getting across a colourful and 'funky' image. An animated Flash banner gives the site a dynamic feel, along with the ability to play streamed high-quality demo tracks through a custom-built Flash audio player.

Alchemy - product images and Flash ads

Alchemy is a groundbreaking new synthesizer from Camel Audio, who approached me wanting Flash banner adverts to promote the software. In addition, they needed product images to accompany two add-on packs of sounds. The Flash adverts had to adhere to the specifications laid out by Google Adwords, whilst the product images had to convey the appropriate moods for each pack.

Mike Williamson : Interior Design

A simple brochure site promoting interior design services in Edinburgh and the Borders. Search Engine Optimisation was the priority for this project so a range of online and offline tasks were also identified to help the client promote his business.
